CHEST OF DRAWERS
Reinterpretation of a chest of drawers attributed to Piero Piffeti now in the Stupinigi Hunting Lodge in Turin (approx. 1730-1735).
A chest of drawers with a wooden structure entirely covered with marquetry using different woods, including rosewood and boxwood.
Originally this type of furniture would have included decorations in ivory, a material that can no longer be used for legal reasons. Colombostile has chosen to reinterpret this masterpiece using vegetable ivory, a material extracted from the fruit of the Phytelephas macrocarpa palm.
The skill of the craftsmen of Colombostile shines in these ivory parts, exquisitely decorated with China ink motifs and pictures.
The feet are hand-carved solid wood covered in 22kt gold leaf, burnished with agate stone.
The handles are cast in lost-wax, then finely chiselled and decorated with a gold plating bath.
The drawers are carefully lined with ink-coloured silk velvet with matching trims.
